It's time for the first color challenge this spring over at the Pals Paper Arts blog. I wasn't sure I would like this combination when I first saw it. Once I started playing with the card stock and ink, I could see the appeal. Summer Starfruit is not one of my favorite colors, but the other two colors work nicely with it. You can find lots of inspiration over at the Pals Paper Arts blog.
My take on the challenge uses two of my newest stamp sets: Blessed Easter and the Hardwood background stamp. I am absolutely in love with the Hardwood background stamp, so you can expect to see more of it in the near future. The other project I completed today also used this background stamp. The butterfly is from Papillon Potpourri. The card stock is Summer Starfruit, Pool Party, and Old Olive. I used Pool Party, Summer Starfruit, and Old Olive markers to color the flowers and butterfly. The Hardwood stamp is stamped in Crumb Cake. The oval framelits made it easy to cut out the ovals to frame the Easter stamp.
I love the way the card above turned out, but it isn't how this card started. My initial attempt was a bit blah, so I pulled out the Hardwood background stamp to add some interest to the Pool Party card stock. The original is below so you can see the before and after. The after is definitely much better!
