CYCI #64: A Color Challenge

I wanted to slip in an (almost) last minute entry into the Can You Case It? challenge of the week. This week's challenge is a color challenge. You can find lots of inspiration here at the blog.

My card features the Flower Patch photo polymer stamp set. It has lots of fun floral themed stamps and some great sentiments too! Card stock used to create this card includes Crisp Cantaloupe, Basic Black, and Very Vanilla. The DSP is a retired one from the previous annual catalog. I stamped the Crisp Cantaloupe and Pistachio pudding images on to the black/vanilla DSP to add more touches of the featured colors. The Bitty Butterfly punch was used to punch the Crisp Cantaloupe butterfly that I added to hide a little ink "oops." I really love the touch of texture added by the thick Crisp Cantaloupe baker's twine.

CYCI #56: A Color Challenge

This week, the fabulous Justin Krieger is the guest designer over at the Can You Case It? challenge blog. This week's challenge is a color challenge perfect for Valentine's Day cards. Make sure to visit the blog to see lots of inspiration from the other designers and participants!

My card features the Stacked With Love DSP stack. All three pieces of DSP come from that stack. I don't usually use three different DSPs in one card, but I think the papers in this stack go so well together. The red paper that I cut the heart out of has a really subtle pattern, so it pairs well with more vibrant patterns like the Xs and Os.

The heart was cut out with the hearts framelits set. The stamp sets featured are Sheltering Tree (the paint stroke), Crazy About You, and Work of Art (YOU). I wanted the YOU to stand out, so I used the one from Work of Art instead of the matching one from the Crazy About You set. I think they worked well together to make the sentiment for this card! The confetti in my shaker card was made with the Hearts Border punch and the Confetti Stars punch. I used Basic Black, Real Red, and Red Glimmer paper for the confetti. The Card base is Real Red as is the ink used for YOU. The swoosh was stamped off to get a lighter red.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by! Comments are much appreciated.

CYCI #55: A Sketch Challenge

I was able to sneak in a little crafting time today while my girls happily played with their Lego sets together. I took my inspiration from the sketch challenge over at Can You Case It? Make sure to drop by the CYCI? blog to check out all the great samples from the design team!

My card features one of my favorite new stamp sets from the occaisions catalog called Hey, Valentine. I just love the school of fish and the sentiment. I teach third grade, so this stamp is perfect for a Valentine for a fellow teacher or for my students.

The background paper is from the Stacked With Love DSP stack, also in the occaisions catalog. This paper features Basic Black, Whisper White, and Calypso Coral colors. I made the card base out of Calypso Coral card stock and also used it to accent the image and sentiment, which were stamped in black ink on Whisper White card stock. I used the new corner rounder to round the corners to soften them up a bit. I used the banner punch, mini heart punch, and hearts border punch to make the accents on the card. The hearts are punched out of silver glimmer paper that has been colored with Calypso Coral reinker. The color looks truer in person than in the picture above. The light Calypso Coral Blendability marker was used to color in the heart on the fish image.

Valentine's Day Projects Part 1

When I saw the new occaisions catalog for the first time, the first stamp set I fell in love with was Hey, Valentine. I teach third grade and like to make special Valentines and goodies for my students each year. This is one stamp set I know I will be using year after year to make Valentines for my students as well as for my daughters' classes.

The sentiment in the stamp used below is my favorite. I thought it was perfect for pairing with some Goldfish crackers or a baggie of Swedish fish. I stamped it in Memento black ink and colored it with my Stampin' Up! Blendabilities. The image was cut out with the Top Note die and then cut along the perforated line. I then cut a piece of Pumpkin Pie card stock out with the die to create the background layer. I think my students will really enjoy this snack on Valentine's Day!

I also made some sweet tweets, I mean treats, to give my students as well. The thin bags I used will also hold two pencils if you are not able to give out sugary treats. They can fit a third Pixie Stick, but I think two tubes of sugar are sufficient!

Here is an up close picture of the bird image and sentiment. I also used the Blendabilities to color this image. The decorative label punch is behind the image and was punched out in Real Red card stock.

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

CYCI #53

Whew! It's almost Friday and time for the weekend. It's been a busy week, but I managed a little time to craft tonight and made a card fr CYCI #53. The challenge this time was to make a clean and quick card in under ten minutes. Yikes, that is quite the challenge for me. I tend to take my time and play around with my designs. You can check out lots of inspiration over at Can You Case It?

My Paper Pumpkin kit for January arrived today, so I decided to use it to help me make this quick and simple card. The hear die cut, sentiment stamp, clip, and heart patterned paper all came from the kit. The base card was made with Blushing Bride card stock. The red patterned paper is from the Stacked With Love DSP stack from the new occaisions catalog. I punched out the hearts along the bottom with the heart punch from the Itty Bitty Accents punch set.

Check back for Valentine's Day projects this weekend! I've got some new stamps sets I cannot wait to get inked up and will be sharing some samples we'll be making in upcoming classes.

CYCI #52...A Color Challenge

It's Tuesday and time for a quick card share! One way I get ideas for my projects is by checking out blogs with challenges. One of my favorite challenge blogs is Can You Case It?

Today's card was created for the color challenge over at Can You Case It?  Make sure to check the blog for lots of inspiration using these colors. The design team is very talented and there are lots of ideas to CASE for future projects!

I am in love with the Butterflies Thinlits dies in the new occaisions catalog from Stampin' Up! My card features the medium size die from the set. My card base and panel are both made using Pool Party card stock. I stamped the Something Lacy background stamp in Versamark ink on the panel then embossed the image with gold embossing powder. I used white gel pen to color some of the flowers and leaves. The "congrats" sentiment is from the Simply Wonderful stamp set that is available free during Sale-A-Bration with a $50 purchase. Check out the supply list below for other products used to create this card.

Thanks for dropping by!

Painted Petals Birthday Card

It's been a long time since I shared a card or other project on this blog. One of my resolutions for 2015 is to get back sharing projects and blogging regularly. I enjoy sharing projects and want to make sure to do more of it this year! The new occaisions catalog from Stampin' Up inspired today's card. Make sure to check back for more projects from the new catalog! I've got lots of projects planned for upcoming posts.

This card features the new Butterfly Basics stamp set and Painted Petals DSP from the catalog which launched January 6th. I also got to play with the new bow punch, which is a lot of fun! It makes it easy to make cute bows for any project, I am loving the Blackberry Bliss and Daffodil Delight together. The Blackberry Bliss ribbon gives a subtle accents behind the focal point of the stamped images. The two butterflies were both stamped in Blackberry Bliss with the different shades made by stamping off on scratch paper to achieve a more subtle color while the birthday sentiment was stamped full "strength."

Thanks for checking out my blog! If you like the projects you see and would like to try stamping yourself, let me know. I teach stamping classes at my home in Puyallup, WA and would love to have new stampers join my classes.
